Greetings Daevas!

After the European Aion team attended gamescom 2010 two weeks ago in Cologne, Germany, the turn has now come to the North American team, attending PAX this weekend in Seattle along with a few guests from Europe. This week you can taste the release of Aion: Assault on Balaurea as it's just started to download via the NCSOFT Launcher. Don't panic if it stops at unexpected percentages along the way. It's an incremental patch and will be finished before the servers go live.

We hope you are as impatient as we are to expand your wings and finally glide into Balaurea! With only a few more days remaining, how will you prepare for the release of …

Greetings Daevas!

It's been an exciting couple of weeks here at NCSOFT with the first official unveiling of Aion®: Assault on Balaurea™ at gamescom and the expansion's content coming onto our public test servers shortly after that. Aion: Assault on Balaurea is the result of a lot of hard work, and we truly believe you will see the results of that work in its new content and features.

Last week, members of the Aion team were at gamescom showing off the expansion in all its glory. Head on over to the NCSOFT at gamescom 2010 event page for live video from the show floor, pictures of the event, and more.

Greetings Daevas,

If you're anything like me, you probably love animals! Throughout my life, I've found that being around the cuteness of cats and dogs helps keep a smile on my face. In Aion®: Assault on Balaurea™, you'll find yourself in the middle of an intense war, but you won't have to face the challenges ahead alone. You'll have the ability to collect dozens of pets to accompany you along the way. Yesterday, we began discussing how you can obtain those pets, and our announcement was met with an overwhelming amount of buzz in the media. …

Greetings Daevas,

It's been another busy week here at NCSOFT, and despite being infected with an officewide plague-like flu of sorts, we're still alive! We have a lot to talk about this week, so let's get to it!

We know that many of you have been patiently waiting for your Major Crowns and Suspicious Yellow Sacks as part of the Dash of the Daevas and Fight on the Right Side events. Obviously, we've run into a few problems distributing these items as quickly as we wanted to, so we're adopting a new strategy.

For the Dash of the Daevas crown rewards, we're going to issue every active …

July Community Address: Open Letter from Lance Stites

Hello to all,

It's been a while since I've addressed the community, and with all that's happening, it's probably a good time to provide an update. Since Aion Producer Chris "Kinslon" Hager is out due to an unpreventable leave of absence, I'll be providing information to you. While we expect him back in the office within a couple of weeks, we didn't want to wait to provide you with information on our status.

We've had a busy summer already and have accomplished some positive things. Our release of 1.9 brought some nice improvements to the game. We were especially glad to release this update as it introduced many changes based on the feedback we collected from players in North America and Europe. We've also merged some of the servers to revitalize the server population. While no one looks forward to conducting a merge, we felt it was important to provide a vibrant social experience for the community. We had seen player concurrency dropping off some and had been diligent in removing RMT or bot accounts, so a server merge was a good way to bring the community back together.

Since then, we've been allowing free character transfers so as to resolve any character faction conflicts. However, we soon noticed a disturbing trend. Players were migrating in such a way that caused an unbalanced faction ratio in the servers, negating a primary reason for the recent merge. We had to make the hard decision to disable transfers and revisit our plan.

In plain terms, it is our duty and obligation to provide a fun and fair environment for players. I know this wasn't a popular decision, but the alternative would be servers with one faction totally dominating the other and a self-perpetuating situation of player discouragement and abandonment for the minority faction or no challenge at all for the dominating faction. Right now, all the associated …

Greetings Daevas,

We're putting an intense week behind us, but are also getting ready for an exciting weekend. A large part of the rewards for the "Dash of the Daevas" event have now been sent out to all the winners. The only ones remaining are faction-wide rewards that are set to reach you next week. We're also working to get your characters pampered with the sweet free loot from our "Fight on the Right Side" incentive.

Looking forward, there's a weekend full of awesome. Double experience rates and inactive accounts rising from the dead are bound to keep things lively! Don't miss this opportunity to invite past Legion mates and friends to experience everything Aion has to offer, even if they're no longer playing.

Greetings Daevas,

This week has been a busy one. We hope you are enjoying the increased population due to the server merge, and are finding more players to group with for questing and to join as comrades when taking the fight to the enemy. This week also began the first round of free character transfers.

Question of the Week

Wolfshifter from New Zikelasks:

"What about the Abyss point restriction on character transfers? If I start getting my Abyss points for gear, will I have to spend my Abyss points again to cover the 214k restriction?"
