First Look

Upheaval Sneak Peek: Enshar Flythrough

Residing on the other half of the risen island is Enshar, home of the Tehji tribes and claimed by the Asmodian people as their base of operations.  Explore lush coral-speckled landscapes and towering organic trees that sway on the wind like a jellyfish in the sea.

Explore Cygnea and Enshar in Aion: Upheaval launching June 17, 2015.

Upheaval Sneak Peek: Cygnea Flythrough

Take a first look at Cygnea, where the Elyos have occupied their forces. Cygnea, which until very recently was in the depths of the ocean, still houses its abundance of aquatic life and features.  While above land now, you'll still feel as if you're below the waves whether you're fighting the Blackfin tribe or seeking the entrance to the Drakenspire.

Aion: Upheaval Skill Change Preview

A force is coming that will disrupt all we know. Beritra’s reach continues to extend further into Atreia, and his forces are growing stronger and more aggressive. For the battle ahead, Daevas will receive new skill training to aid them in the fight against their enemies, and hopefully stop the oncoming Balaur threat.

In Steel Cavalry, skill books were eliminated, making training easier and faster for Daevas. In Upheaval, the improvements continue: we are updating the Skill window interface and streamlining all class skills.

THE NEW UI

As you level up, some of your skills level up too. In Upheaval, when a skill levels up, previous level versions of the skill will no longer clutter your skill window. It will continue to level up automatically and the highest level of the skill will update on your skill bar, if you have it placed there.

Want to use a lower level of skill? Never fear! Each skill level can be adjusted in the skill Details window. With the slider, you can adjust the skill to a lower level and set it on your skill bar should you chose so. With this new interface, you can even preview the higher-level version of the skill too if you haven’t reached the required level yet!  It’s a great way to see what you’ll soon be getting.

Now that low-level skills will no longer appear in the skill window, you can view unacquired skills instead by checking the box at the bottom of the window. It will list all skills available to your class including Stigma skills. Skills you do not currently possess will appear greyed out.

As you may have noticed, the Skill window is solely for class skills now. By clicking the Function button on the Skill window or Shift-K as the default hotkey, you will pull up the other character functionalities like actions, sign, craft skills and emotes.

Skill Changes by Class

In Aion: Upheaval skills are changing for all classes. Many improvements will be made, including adjustments to cooldowns and MP costs, consolidating redundant skills, and removing subpar ones. Look for more detailed information on this as the release of Aion: Upheaval draws closer.

Upheaval Sneak Peek: Majestic Clucklich Mount

Last week, we previewed the Afterburner, one of the new mounts coming in Aion: Upheaval. This week, we present another new mount, the Majestic Clucklich. Cross the road in style and soar through Atreian skies with this magnificent mount.

Upheaval Sneak Peek: The Story So Far

The limits of Balaurea have been tapped. A false vision of victory has deceived the Daevas and brought an uneasy confidence. The death of Tiamat, the discovery of Kaldor and Levinshor, and mounting conquests brought glimmers of security to a doomed world.

As the Elyos and Asmodians fought amongst themselves to claim territory, Beritra’s forces used this distraction to capture the Linkgate Foundry. There, the shadowy Dragon Lord was able to unlock secrets of dimensional research that would allow passage through the protective veil of Atreia. Great machines were constructed to facilitate a sinister plan, and Beritra moved to seize the ancient relics that he had sought for so long. Everything was in place. With a roar of whirring machinery, and the ability to attack Atreia directly, the invasion began.

Though the Daevas had begun to unravel Beritra’s plot, they had not realized the grand scope of what the Dragon Lord had put into motion quickly enough. As his mechanized invaders poured into Atreia, the Daevas scrambled to protect their lands. Ravenous machines, powered by Ide, pressed on all fronts, but their purpose was far more devious than conquest.

Long buried in shadowed reaches of Katalam and Danaria, the Sealing Stones hummed with ancient commands. Under the cover of the invasion, Beritra managed to destroy the Sealing Stones. Without any warning, the land under Sarpan, Tiamaranta, Katalam and Danaria began to quake.  Finally, Beritra takes his devastating steps into Atreia.

Prepare for the Upheaval!

04292015_Upheaval_detailpage.jpg

Today, we announced the title of Aion’s newest expansion, Upheaval. As you can imagine from the title, a lot is going to happen.

The Dragon Lord Beritra has continued to amass great power, and his assaults on Atreia have become more relentless and violent. Beritra has enacted large-scale invasions into the rest of Atreia from his hidden stronghold in Balaurea. But there is more to his strategy than just widespread destruction, as he searches for the ancient seals to unleash a power so great it threatens the lives of every living being in Atreia. And as his armies continue their advance, the landscape will be forever changed!

As the dramatic storyline of Aion continues to unfold, the expansion will also bring with it new zones, new questlines, and new gear. Players will once again find themselves challenged to improve their characters and their playstyles as they strive to locate the Dragon Lord and bring the battle to him on their terms.

We’ll have more details on the expansion in the coming days and weeks. In the meantime, Daevas should prepare themselves for their greatest challenge yet.
