Eye on Community 8-13-2010

Greetings Daevas,

If you're anything like me, you probably love animals! Throughout my life, I've found that being around the cuteness of cats and dogs helps keep a smile on my face. In Aion®: Assault on Balaurea™, you'll find yourself in the middle of an intense war, but you won't have to face the challenges ahead alone. You'll have the ability to collect dozens of pets to accompany you along the way. Yesterday, we began discussing how you can obtain those pets, and our announcement was met with an overwhelming amount of buzz in the media.

If you want to know more about pets, make sure to read our official announcement. Have questions? Let us know in the forums! Who knows, we might answer your question publicly.

Question of the Week

Ouriel of Israphel asks:

"I read that pets will help carry stuff. When my pet is not summoned, will the items remain in his inventory or they will all pop out and flood my inventory?"

Great question, Ouriel!

The Speckled Ailu provided as a bonus in our Aion: Assault on Balaurea retail box is one of the pets that provide inventory space. We call these pack pets. When Aion: Assault on Balaurea releases, you can add a number of other pack pets to your pet collection. To be clear, pets don't take up room in your personal inventory. You can summon your pets as you need them, and pets have a separate pet UI that you can open and summon your pets as you need them. This is to say that you can put items in a pet's inventory and then place the pet back into storage. They're like cute, furry, animated backpacks with an expandable capacity—and the best part is that you don't have to clean up after them!

You will be able to get your hands on these pets several ways, including by buying them from in-game merchants or the NCSOFT store. Additionally, you will be able to obtain pets through quest rewards, item drops, and even special promotional events.
