Web Roundup: Aion v1.9 Media Coverage

If you haven't had the time to read the Aion yet, take a minute or ten to do so. The Western Aion 1.9 update is slated to hit our European and North American servers the first half of the year. We're stoked to see you as excited as we are about the update.

The folks over at Massively, Kotaku, MMORPG, IGN and TenTonHammer had the opportunity to ask Aion Producer Chris "Kinslon" Hager a couple of questions prior to the patch notes release. To learn a little bit more about what led to some of the upcoming changes, check out what the press is saying in the five features linked below:

Aion v1.9 Secretive Meeting Notes

Greetings Folks

As some of our more observant followers noticed, a top secret, critical meeting just took place between our European and North American offices. This meeting was held in parallel with a press conference with over 60 invited journalists that took place at the same time in NCSOFT's Korean headquarters.

Unfortunately, we don't have a transcript of the meeting to share. Security precautions for the meeting were aggressive—including the use of lava pits and muscular bulls—which made leaking the information during the meeting an uninviting option. The objective of the meeting was to nail down the patch notes of the upcoming version 1.9 patch for Aion.

Upcoming Double Experience Weekend

Who's ready for another Double Experience Weekend? That's right! It's time to once again stock up on caffeinated food and beverages in preparation for a weekend without sleep. This Friday, February 26, at 8 p.m. (server time), we will enable double experience. The experience bonus will run through the weekend before ending on Monday at 8 a.m. (server time).

We've broken down what time the double experience will begin on each server. Plan accordingly, and enjoy the double experience!

Tahabata Vanquished!

Last Friday night February 12 11:42 p.m. CST, a North American group of players on [West]Ariel did what many before them had attempted but failed. They were the first to on a North American or European server to successfully pierce the thick scales of Tahabata Pyrelord, the ultimate boss monster of Dark Poeta. Player "Forgiven" from the Legion Flameborne was first to comment.

"Took us about a week and a half after equipping everyone with fire resist sets to down it, although [we] had multiple sub-5% wipes," said Forgiven.

It was certainly no easy feat, and Forgiven credits Sylvester Stallone for part of their accomplishment:

"Preparation was hard, we had a number of montages made during training, weekly Rocky movie marathons, and team building exercises designed to increase our trust in each other."
