Ask Kinslon: Aion v1.9 Interview #4

Greetings and salutations, my ever-vigilant Atreia-dwelling friends! As you continue to wait for 1.9 to hit the live servers, your favorite Daeva reporter continues to interrogate interview Aion's producer, Chris "Kinslon" Hager.

In our final week of the "Ask Kinslon" series, we focus our questions on new skills, instance changes, and the user interface! Enjoy!

Aquilanius: The Ranger skill Retreating Slash already exists as a Stigma at level 20ish. Will the Stigma be deleted and replaced with the new level 48 skill?

Public Test Server Deployed

Well met, Daevas!

The last week passed accompanied with a fair bit of anticipation for Aion's new public test server (PTS). The day has now come for that server to spread its wings and descend to our mortal realms. As you are reading this, the PTS has been online for a short while. Your friends are probably connecting already!

What are you waiting for? Log in and create your character in preparation for future patch testing right away!

What is the public test server?

The PTS is a server used to publicly test game content somewhat in advance of pushing it to the normal game servers. For more details, head on over and take a look at the server announcement.

Aion 2.0 Patch Notes Incoming

The Korean Public Test Server today launched the much anticipated version 2.0 of Aion. Our ambition is not only to provide this content on our Western servers as soon as we can, but also to constantly relay information about these updates as soon as they appear in Korea.

The patch notes for 2.0 will to this end be published right here on aiononline.com. Unfortunately we received the notes late this time around. Since they are so large and since we don't have any particular affinity for machine translations, we'll need a few days to translate and ready them for you (they're over 38 pages!).

Veteran Rewards Modification

We recently discovered an exploit in the Veteran Rewards system. Some players were able to procure an unintended amount of Recovery Crystals as part of the seven-month reward. To rectify this, our good friend Morati has donated his seemingly endless Secret Remedy supply. The Recovery Crystals previously available in Veteran Rewards program for months 7, 8, 10, and 11 have been replaced with Morati's Secret Remedy.

The new reward has the same restoration values and shares the same cool-down timer as the Recovery Crystals. The only difference between the two items is that this new reward isn't tradable.

The changes will be retroactive to preserve the value of the Recovery Crystals that players earned legitimately.

We regret if this change inconvenienced you, and thank you for your patience and understanding.

Ask Kinslon: Aion v1.9 Interview #3

Greetings Daevas,

I've made a full recovery from the Porgus flu, so as promised, here is the third "Ask Kinslon" interview (the first that we will be releasing this week).

Aquilanius: What is the purpose behind Energy of Salvation?

Kinslon: Energy of Salvation is for players who are leveling more slowly than other players of the same level. You can gain Energy of Salvation starting at level 15. It is intended for casual players, or players that really enjoy exploring and pursuing interests in game that don't drive directly toward leveling as fast as possible. It's also meant for people who get distracted by shiny things instead of leveling—of which I am always guilty of.

"Ask Kinslon" #3 Delayed

Have you ever heard of the Porgus Flu? Neither had we; but apparently this strain of the E1M1 virus has infected our Daeva of Journalism, Aquilanius. As a result, he was unable to interview Chris "Kinslon" Hager this week.

It's still unclear where Aquilanius acquired the Porgus flu, though many suspect it was from Tutty or his distant cousin Poppy; regardless, Aquilanius will return next week with more information beginning with part one of a double feature on Monday. For now, enjoy the double experience weekend and try to stay away from those dirty Porgus.
