Happy Friday, Daevas!

Daylight saving time begins in the United States this Saturday. Safety officials use that biannual event as a reminder: Change your clocks, and change your smoke alarm batteries. This important reminder is meant to keep you safe. Well, we want to keep your character safe as well, so we're officially putting an MMO spin on this adage.

That's right! At NCSOFT, we want you to change you clock, change your batteries, and change the password for your Aion account. By doing so, you will make giant steps toward keeping you and your virtual personae safe For more tips on how to stay safe in Atreia, visit our PlaySmart Page.

Rift Opening in San Francisco

Greetings Daevas,

Several members of the Aion team, including yours truly, will be rifting to San Francisco later this week to show off Aion on the GDC show floor. If you're in the area and planning on attending the show, seek us out, we adore hearing from our fans. If you can't make the event but live in the area, feel free to follow our whereabouts with Foursquare. If you manage to track us down, we might even have some goodies for you!

To follow us on Foursquare, you'll need to first create an account either using the Foursquare website, or with your mobile device (iPhone, Blackberry, Android, Palm, etc). Once you've created your account, add aion_tamat and watch our movement throughout the day. We'll see you there!

Flipping the Double Experience Weekend Switch

Greetings Daevas,

Who's ready for another Double Experience Weekend? That's right! It's time to once again stock up on caffeinated food and beverages in preparation for a weekend without sleep. This Friday, March 12th, at 8 p.m. (server time), we will enable double experience. The experience bonus will run through the weekend before ending on Monday at 8 a.m. (server time).

We've broken down what time the double experience will begin on each server. Plan accordingly, and enjoy the double experience!

Web Roundup: Aion v1.9 Media Coverage

If you haven't had the time to read the Aion yet, take a minute or ten to do so. The Western Aion 1.9 update is slated to hit our European and North American servers the first half of the year. We're stoked to see you as excited as we are about the update.

The folks over at Massively, Kotaku, MMORPG, IGN and TenTonHammer had the opportunity to ask Aion Producer Chris "Kinslon" Hager a couple of questions prior to the patch notes release. To learn a little bit more about what led to some of the upcoming changes, check out what the press is saying in the five features linked below:

Cyprius on server [FR]Deltras asks:

"Seeing chatter about two patches, 1.9 and 2.0, at the same time confuses me. What's the difference between the two, and will there be a difference between their release here and in Korea?"

Aion in Korea is always a bit ahead of Aion here in the West in terms of game version. Sometimes we get updates more quickly, and other times, they take us longer to roll out because we have to do more work behind the scenes to implement them. If an update contains a large amount of content that requires localization into English, French, and German, it takes longer to implement the update.
