Eye on Community — January 2011

Greetings Daevas,

First, on behalf of everyone here at NCSOFT, we wish you a happy new year to you and your family. May 2011 bring you everything that you have ever wanted in your personal, professional, and gaming lives!

As you know from our last issue of Eye on Community of 2010, we decided to move from a weekly to a monthly format to provide you more meaty content and a more interesting read. This issue was pushed back due to legal reasons. This threw a slight kink into the systems. However, moving forward we're going to work around those issues to bring you quality news and content. We apologize for the inconvenience.

This issue marks the start of this new format. In this revamped Eye on Community, the column will contain cornerstone topics and standalone feature articles. Cornerstone topics include the monthly summary (which you are currently reading) and community news, creative highlights (videos, screenshots, music, and so), and contests.

Standalone articles will vary from month to month. They might feature a player or a Legion, provide news from Korea (patch notes, videos, fan creations), share topics and quotes of the month, offer players' tips, focus on the most popular items recently sold on the Trade Broker, or deliver whatever other interesting information that pops up for you. The standalone articles will provide variety, so we give you as much entertaining and interesting information to read as possible through Eye on Community.

Let's come back to the highlights of this month, shall we?

The Aion 2.1 Part 2 update headed to the North American and European live servers on Wednesday, January 26, 2011. Aion 2.1 part 2 focuses on crafting in Aion, and includes new crafting recipes.

Regarding

Upcoming Server Restart and Double XP

Greetings Daevas!

Yesterday we experienced unexpected server instability. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and we appreciate your patience during this unfortunate event.

As compensation, we will be resetting instance cooldowns and enabling a Double XP event with a server restart at 3:00 a.m. PST, February 4, 2011 (more). The Double XP event will run until the maintenance on Wednesday February 9, 2011. In addition, later in the day on February 4, we will be distributing a token of our appreciation through an in-game survey. The survey will be available for a week.

Upcoming Emergency Server Maintenance

Greetings Daevas,

Due to unexpected technical issues experienced on some servers today, we will be scheduling an Emergency Server Maintenance to republish the recent patch. We will be posting the scheduled maintenance times and expected server downtime later today. We appreciate your patience as we work to resolve these technical difficulties.
